What’s up Man?
First things first; welcome to Master The Razor! I’m glad you found the site and I definitely hope that you find what you’re looking for. Obviously, this website is dedicated to teaching you everything you need to know on how to shave a Black Man’s head with a razor.
It is my goal to make sure that Brothers that choose to shave their heads learn how to do so safely and effectively. I know how important this information can be to us – honestly, that’s why I started the site.
To be clear, this site isn’t just for Black Men…everybody is welcome. And yes, there will be resources available for anyone that chooses to shave. But understand that the focus of this site is the Brothers, because we have different needs according to our hair texture.
Years ago (when I was in high school) I remember the first time I shaved my head.
I had been thinking about it for weeks on and off, and finally decided to just do it. My homeboy Stezo was a (talented) barber, so he’s the one that hooked me up.
We had a plan: go straight to his crib after school, he would hook me up, and then I would go to wrestling practice. After that, we were going to the Public Enemy show in Baltimore later that night.
So he shaved me down with clippers as usual. But then he told me if I wanted it real clean, that he would then razor it down from there. I trusted him and I was wit it.
It looked great!
But a few days later, I got a rash of razor bumps! Never before had I experienced that degree of irritation. And it looked ugly! That was the end of the razor for me.
I admit that I did try it again a couple of years later. By this time I was shaving my own, and figured that I had enough experience to try the razor again.
At that point I swore off using a straight razor for good. But by then, the bald head thing was popular and everybody was doing it. So where did I go wrong?
Shave My Head Bald?
Sure I still shaved my head. But for years I used a set of clippers. And for the life of me, I couldn’t understand how so many dudes got their dome so clean. Of course it was clear to me that they were using straight razors, but that was them.
For years I just thought that my head couldn’t take it. But over time, I rapped with more guys. Eventually, I realized that I made some crucial mistakes as a young buck:
- I used a razor that had been used by someone else
- I had no guidance
- I SHAVED AGAINST THE GRAIN!!!
The Proper Way To Shave A Head
Even though I understood the error of my ways through hindsight, I still remained hesitant. So I did what I do best: I talked to every dude with a bald head I came across. I even talked to a couple of white boys.
My mission was to understand exactly how to shave a Black Man’s head without getting any razor bumps or skin irritation. And while I doing my ‘research’ an interesting thing happened – I began to accumulate some knowledge on the topic.
Now I don’t know it all, but I know enough. And that led to the realization that other guys out there could benefit from what I had learned. So bam! There you have it.
That’s how Master The Razor was born. And this site exists to help the fellas that are thinking about shaving to learn how to do it properly. I sure wouldn’t want another Young Brother to learn the hard way.
Like I did.
Anyways, get comfortable and enjoy the site! Also, feel free to return as often as you’d like. I like the company.
